Dieter Baethge Interview

So a lot of people outside the U.S.A. have been asking me for that interview I had with Modelsmania Magazine. But it was a little hard for them to see it since the magazine only comes out in the U.S.A. Well, they were very nice and sent me a physical copy of it so everybody, if interested of course, can see it now. You can learn more about them in www.modelsmania.com. Special thanks to Rod White. Thanks for all your unconditional support!

Ego-dystonia (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge
Acoustic guitar intro written and recorded by Héctor Huambo.
Main guitar solo written and recorded by Claudio Mattos.

Into yourself (0:00 - 0:42):

(Instrumental)

The power of introspection (0:42 - 3:20)

Verse 1:

Now that you've broken the seal you can see the other side.
You've reached now the darkest place.
There will be no turning back.

Coming from a pit of souls a screaming child appears.
The voice of your deepest fear is calling out your name.

Chorus:

You are afraid of caring cuz you can't stand another loss.
Your pain is dragging you down.

Vanishing your memories you will not escape the past.
Living in the future while dying in the present.

Verse 2:

Caught in a masquerade ball you've been dancing with your grief.
As long as you deny it, it will always be parasiting you.

The gates of madness are opended again.
The sun turns arround. Fire turns to ice. You are in front of yourself.

Chorus:

You are afraid of caring cuz you can't stand another loss.
Your pain is dragging you down.

Vanishing your memories you will not escape the past.
Living in the future while dying in the present.

Bridge:

The ghosts of your past cannot die.
Learn to control them or you shall not ever be free.

Back to madness (3:20 - 3:56):

Whispers:

O jabruta, o mituta (A friend or death)

Dinjet le jivia, jabla madjel le (Whoever´s bitten by a snake fears the rope)

Esah Aynai (I will look up)

Inner Battle (3:56 - 5:06):

(Instrumental)

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards". (Soren Kierkegaard)

Laugh it Hard (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Verse 1:

Tell me what'd you see.
You think I'm always being immature.

And you say I'm a kid.
Then I roll all over the floor.

Verse 2:

I'm so tired of hiding feelings.
Don't you hate being so freaking serious?

Stop and play just for a moment.
The kid inside will set you free.

Prechorus:

Listen to me. It's alright. Just laugh it hard you'll see it doesn't matter.

Learning to see the magic in the simple things in life is gonna save you...

Chorus:

...from being another frustrated man. From being another statistic.
Stop taking life so seriously! There are flowers to smell!

Verse 3:

And now you face a new day full things you thought would always matter.

But then you realize that most people aren't even happy.

Verse 4:

You don't need a lot of money.
There's no sense in living just to pay bills.

Can't you see there is a way out?
The kid inside will set you free.

Prechorus:

Listen to me. It's alright. Just laugh it hard you'll see it doesn't matter.

Learning to see the magic in the simple things in life is gonna save you...

Chorus:

...from being another frustrated man. From being another statistic.
Stop taking life so seriously! There are flowers to smell!

SOLO

Verse 5:

They say I never act my age. Let me tell you I can't hear them talking. When my amplifier's on all I hear's the sound of feelings baby!

Prechorus:

Listen to me. It's alright. Just laugh it hard you'll see it doesn't matter.

Learning to see the magic in the simple things in life is gonna save you...

Chorus:

...from being another frustrated man. From being another statistic.
Stop taking life so seriously! There are flowers to smell!

“Society knows perfectly well how to kill a man and has methods more subtle than death”. (Andre Guide)

Heartripper (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Verse 1:

All the signs were in front of me
but I was trapped in the cage of a denial.
How could I be so blind?

How did this happen?
I'll never know.

You don't even know how to create a decent lie.

Prechorus:

I was a fool believing
that putting my heart in your claws was gonna make me happy. No!

Verse 2:

As you fade away from my heart I feel the hole in my chest keeps getting colder.
But you'll never see me cry.

I might still love you.
But I don't need you.

I know this experience will allow me to learn

Prechorus:

how to be a better lover for the one that I'll seek and I'll find in the end...

Chorus:

...and I'll fight it through the haze
and I'll give myself to fate.
and I'll find someone who loves me.
I'll see the light again!

I still know
how to love
so I'll move on
and start again.

SOLO

Bridge:

Broken hearts
all arround.
Lonely souls
in the dark.

Trapped in hate
they don't see.
Must let go
to be free.

Verse 3:

Be alright again will be tough.
I might fall down once or twice.
This burns like hell and
I've gotta break away!

But I will make it.
No doubt about it.

I've got nothing to lose now.
Time for a new begin.

Prechorus:

I've gotta carry on. I'll get back on my feet once again. You'll see!

Chorus:

And I'll fight it through the haze
and I'll give myself to fate.
and I'll find someone who loves me.
I'll see the light again!

I still know
how to love
so I'll move on
and start again yeah!

I've been down on my knees for too long baby!
No! You're a heartripper!
I've gotta resist! I've gotta hold on!

Heartripper!

Heartripper!

"Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die". (Carrie Fisher)

Make it right (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Hello boys and girls! Here's a little song for you!

Verse 1:

Hey boy tell me what'cha doin' in the blind side.
Can you tell me what's so good about this mosh pit?

People never trust each other all I see is misery.
Deception and suicidal thoughts are driving you insane!

Verse 2:

Surviving all this madness I come back again to tell ya' you can hold it if you dare to try it harder.

This world is full of bullshit that is something I can tell you but we know you'll never change it so just move on.

Prechorus:

Face it! Fight it! Go get your second chance don't let it vanish.
Face it! Fight it! Fight it like there's no tomorrow. Gotta taste defeat cuz you must learn how to survive it.

Take your chance! and you better make it right! this time.

Chorus:

Uh never surrender never! Don't let them stand in your way.
Stop the complains and face it. Make it right!

Uh never surrender never! Don't let them stand in your way.
Stop the complains and face it. Make it right this time! Make it right this time! Make it right this time!

Verse 3:

Wasted generations! Can you blame them for their failures if they never got the chance to grip a future?
Drugs are not the answer. You'll just lose your motivation. It is pointless to feel pleasure without effort.

Prechorus:

Face it!

Yeah never surrender never! Don't let them stand in your way.
Stop the complains and face it. Make it right this time! Make it right this time! Make it right this time!

"This is a thing I've never known before, it's called easy living". (Ken Hensley)

Minstrel Knight (Lyrics)

Verse 1:

Back in the day when there was no affection for the ones who told us
we should see beyond, there was only dimness. Our realm needed a savior.

Up from a mountain, riding a tiger, came down a warrior who would hear the call.

Verse 2:

And the sky was burning when a purple lightning fell from forge of heaven
to reveal the mighty weapon.

Voices told him 'playing this guitar new life you'll bring to those who listen.
Now prepare yourself. You shall go and rise!'

Chorus:

Summon the power! Feel the mighty magic of his Black Guitar!

SOLO

Verse 3:

Under the stars he crossed the heroe's graveyard finding fallen angels that were chained and doomed.

`Don't let them confuse you. Don't let greed surround your judgement.
Follow the rainbow! Seek for the tower! Don't let them get you like they did with us´.

Verse 4:

All across the wastelands following the rainbow he would find a blackended tower
emanating magic.

Evil curses dragged him to temptation but he broke the spell of darkness and
gained the power to open his wings.

Chorus:

Straight to the heart! Rocking very hard you'll see the minstrel knight!

"Musicians are far beyond being simple entertainers. They're those undervalued everyday heroes in the neverending quest of healing broken souls".

Hole Hearted Girl (Lyrics)

Verse 1:

As she runs through the dark
holding on to her dreams

she's a lonely fighter trying to find some peace.
Sometimes feels overwhelmed but she's used to the knife in her back.
Can you blame her for being so fragile?

Prechorus:

Faking smiles! No one sees the pain in her eyes.
For too long! She's been looking for paradise.
Hopelessness! Slowly sucking her life away.
Angels call! Yet she refuses to give it up.

Oh one day she'll run away!

Chorus:

Hole hearted girl always on the edge. No time to cry.
She's gotta fight for her life.
Hole hearted girl living in a dream.
Holding out for a hero that might never come.

Verse 2:

She's been looking for love.
It's a perpetual heartache in her freezing prison.
No one seems to care.

Hypocritical friends made of lipstick and lies killed her trust.

She has tasted the touch of treason.

Prechorus:

Silent cries! As she hides to avoid the harm.
Dreams of love! She still wonders if they'll come true.
Senseless grind! Rollercoaster of emptyness.
Will of steel! She believes in a better life.

Oh one day she'll run away!

Chorus:

Hole hearted girl always on the edge. No time to cry.
She's gotta fight for her life.
Hole hearted girl living in a dream.
Holding out for a hero that might never come.

SOLO

Chorus:

Hole hearted girl always on the edge. No time to cry.
She's gotta fight for her life.
Hole hearted girl living in a dream.
Holding out for a hero that might never come.

Final Chorus:

Hole hearted girl like a hurricane. She'll make her way.
She's gonna tear down the walls.
Hole hearted girl trying to understand the rules of a world that just won't let her be.

"The law of the beautiest".

The inside of a crystal box (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Verse 1:

The doors are locked. I'm not expecting people to be asking for me anymore.

There's nothing left to be afraid of once your nightmares have come true.

Prechorus:

They say your pain makes you stronger yeah. But how strong can you get before your feelings turn off? All I do now is wait for sleep.

Verse 2:

Dreaming on. Flying to another world where the mirror still lies to me... Where my heart's still beating oh...

Prechorus:

And then a glimmer of light comes in for me to see what I will never have.

Cuz I've locked myself in a crystal...

Chorus:

...box.
And I feel what's left of me fading away.
I realize now my shadow is all I've got.

Verse 3:

I looked for love with every breath I got left in my life. Oh if I only had it.

Prechorus:

I thought I'd be safe from the world alone but now I'm begging for someone to touch me.
It's so cold inside this crystal...

Chorus:

...box.
And I feel what's left of me fading away.
I realize now my shadow is all I've got.

SOLO

Bridge:

Listen to the silence.
A full bottle for an empty heart is what remains from what I turned out to be in this crystal

Chorus:

...box.
And I feel what's left of me fading away.
I realize now my shadow is all I've got.

Yeah and I feel what's left of me fading away away...

"Value inteligence, but give a higher value to goodness. Smart people can teach you a lot and understand you. Appreciate that. But a caring person doesn't have to teach or understand you, he only needs to share and accept you".

Shallow (Lyrics)

Verse 1:

As I take a look all arround me
questions passing by through my head.

I begin to quietly wonder
when did life become so shallow?

Unloving parents, broken dreams, unhappy people dead inside.
Money and looks are becoming our goals and we confuse having sex with being loved.

Verse 2:

Teachers tell you to study harder
making you believe you're your grades.

Simple minded friends don't get you.
When you think for yourself you feel alone.

Time's passing by, we're growing old but we're not becoming more mature.
Preprogramming our children to obey they won't ever be free to choose their fate.

Chorus:

Don't you see? World's too cold now. Can you still feel the beat of your heart?

Don't you see? There's no future for the ones who forget how to love.

We might never meet, but I tell you now,
no matter what you do, don't let them break you! Never!

SOLO

"I think sometimes the most profound solitude begins to grow slowly over time when you start making contacts rather than friends".

Symbiosis (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Verse 1:

I need to open my eyes
to see what I don't understand.

I try so hard to believe
that I'm not as fake as I see.

Prechorus:

If I keep denying myself
I'll never be true
To see your mistakes is painful
But there's no other way (to grow up)

Chorus:

I can't see myself in chains. I won't be my own fetter.
It's all a delusion. It's all in my head.

Verse 2:

I know I can't run away
My anger and fear inside

are all just a part of myself
But I'll always be in control.

Prechorus:

Just like a symbiosis I need
to learn how to live
in peace with myself including the dark side of my soul (don't deny)

Chorus:

I can't see myself in chains. I won't be my own fetter.
It's all a delusion. It's all in my head.

Bridge:

I know I have much to learn
But I understand now
Experience is not enough
I need to reflect it all from the start.

SOLO

Chorus:

I can't see myself in chains. I won't be my own fetter.
It's all a delusion. It's all in my head.

Like a symbiosis I learn. I must... I must live with myself.

"Truth is a bitter medicine for who feel and a sweet punishment for those who think".

Burning Paradise (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Verse 1:

Thunders in the sky are roaring exploding all inside your chest
Your whole life's reduced to a single moment shining on stage.

Prechorus:

Then you feel alive as never before
All you'll need is more.

Verse 2:

Pleasure fills your body with emotions you thought you had lost.
There is only ecstasi when you become one with your song.

Prechorus:

Then you feel alive as never before.
The crowd is going wild!

Chorus:

Burning paradise! you'll consume until your ashes blow away.
You might be dying inside...
But your inner voices cry never!

Verse 3:

Playing under spotlights it feels like you're fighting for your life.
Trying to leave behind your inner demons that won't let you be.

Prechorus:

But you can't
Still you're burning up on stage
hoping they will go!

Verse 4:

Trying to make your final stand you find yourself alone again.
Armed with a guitar the power's flowing into your hands.

Pre chorus:

It's too much!
It will never be enough!
You fall on your knees!

Chorus:

Burning paradise! you'll consume until your ashes blow away.
You might be dying inside...
But your inner voices cry never!

SOLO

Verse 5:

Voices everywhere are calling telling you your dream is over.
Personal utopias never made it so far anyway.

Prechorus:

But you know the show must always go on.
Will your torment end?

Chorus:

Burning paradise! you'll consume until your ashes blow away.
You might be dying inside...
But your inner voices cry never!

Feel the stage on fire!

Screaming whispers (Lyrics)

Music: Dieter Baethge
Lyrics: Dieter Baethge

Verse:

I'm the kiss you never gave.
I'm the anger you deny.

Can't you hear us now? There is no more room in this broken heart for more of us.

If you carefully look into your eyes you might see us trying to fall.

Hi guys, this time the post is going to be in spanish because it is mostly for musicians in Perú.

Paso 1:

Paso 2:
